Tell us about yourself.
Hi everyone! I own Amber Approved Inc. and coach and empower my clients to overcome their emotional eating, hormone and digestive imbalances and take the time they need to create a healthy relationship with themselves and food. I live in Airdrie, Alberta with my boyfriend Phil. I love to spend time in nature, the mountains, gentle yoga and stretching and have a huge passion for getting into the kitchen and making new recipes for myself, my clients and those around me. I really think that inspiration comes from my grandmother who was a wonderful cook!
When and why did you become interested in a healthy lifestyle?
I became interested in a healthy lifestyle after really fighting with my body and struggling with a food addiction. I always wanted to be thin from a young age and thought dieting was the way to get there. After struggling through countless diets, losing and gaining over 1000 pounds in 5 years in my twenties and creating a lot of health issues through binging, I was able to create a healthy relationship with food and learn how to take care of myself. Changing the way I ate, building a self-care practice and learning how to love myself all helped me create a healthy lifestyle for myself.
What is your favorite E3Live superfood and why?
Blue Majik! I love the color for recipes and the antioxidant properties. It's such an easy way to get superfoods in for everyone. I think it also makes people feel more excited to put good ingredients in their bodies.
Any tips on how to incorporate E3Live superfoods into recipes?
I recommend the easiest place to start is with a smoothie. It's so easy to add some in and get a taste for it to see what you like. Chia puddings are another easy one. My new favorite is using
Blue Majik to naturally color icings for cakes and cupcakes.
What are your #1 health and fitness tips?
Take time to slow down and take care of yourself. Most other tips won't do anything if we don't slow down, manage our stressors, emotions and overcoming emotional eating. Building a healthy relationship with yourself and making sure you block off self-care time will help you to make the changes you seek with your health and well being because you are making it a priority.
What does it mean to be "Amber Approved?"
It means that an ingredient is high quality. It supports body balance. It's also normally a product that is gluten, dairy, soy, corn and refined sugar-free.
What's next for Amber?
I am working on a series of online programs to help more people. I am also working on getting started writing my empowering self-help book and the creative process for that. So grateful and thankful for how my journey with food helped to create my business where I support my clients everyday to optimal health and body freedom.
